Harness cleanup, attached knurled fittings and skirt smoothed out

Its tough to keep these titles short!

Well holy snakes its hot out there, so I just spent a half in the basement doing a few quick things.

First, I cleaned up the leftover silicone from attaching the battery harnesses. Its rather annoying to pick, try to grab and peel any excess, so my advice to others is going to be...clean as much of it as you can when its wet!

Here I cleaned up as much as I could pick away with a toothpick.

Being impressed how well the silicone worked, I decided to dab a little on the bottom side of each knurled fitting. There is no room to put a nut inside the battery box, so I figure just putting a tab of silicone under the top of the fitting should work. I specifically put a little extra on since the bottom of the fitting will not be visible.

And as you can see, I just squished the fitting onto the silicon. Once it had started to set for a few minutes, I dabbed away the excess with a toothpick again.

With my energy and attention-span fading in the muggy air, I used my brand new file on the skin slabs. This new file removes much more material than my finer one, so this went rather quickly. Suprisingly, none of the slabs wiggled at all, so the Loctite epoxy is doing its job. I kept on filing until I was level with the bottom of the skirt. As you can see, Once I made contact with the skirt, it rubbed away the paint showing it to be flush. I still have those two holes to fill and that goopy residue to deal with. Then I can give the piece another once over in primer, then 2-3 coats of white paint.

I'm not sure if I will mess with the tiny gap line between the frame plate and the skirt. Paint should fill that in a bit, but its also an area that no one will notice. Well, no one besides my blog readers. So shhh, pretend to ignore it, ok?
