Alas some progress....

Well I figured it was time to put everything together, now that the legs are body are painted.

Dang, I couldn't stop smiling....

It turns out one of the satellite motors burnt up or failed...who knows when. And after much thought, I removed them. R2 will have to stay fixed in 2-leg mode or 3-leg mode. The 2-3-2 mechanism is still installed...but having the shoulder motors out has some good points. First, I just cut out about 20-30 pounds and I have ROOM for batteries!

And as you can see...droid # 2 is too far behind...what a sick hobby this is!

Small Update: Lifeform Scanner and Servo Powerboard

Hello again!

I haven't had a lot of time to dedicate to R2 lately...a lot of personal things going on right now. However a few things worth sharing...

Chris James made a great suggestion on the Astromech Forums a few days ago...I was concerned about not having enough power in my receiver to power all the servos that R2 will have inside. He suggested this fabulous device from ServoCity.Com Costing just $19 (add $10 for them to assemble it), it looks like a promising solution! Mine just arrived but here's the pictures from their website which better details what it will do...

And one more neat thing showed up in the mail...the screen for R2's LifeForm Scanner....

That's all for now...I promise to get my act back in gear!
